I dont know for certain. But what Janes Ammunition -- 2000-2001 edition indicates is that it was available for the D-10 series gun from 1968 onwards. What I do know for certain is that it was still being produced in 1975 as I have a BM-8 APDS round in my collection; and the lot manufacturing date is indicated as 1975.

Since we are at was ever there another APDS. I have heard about a BM-6. Was it a different round o just another designation for BM-8?

Could you provide any measurements of this projectile? Don't suppose you have a firing table as well? ;)

There seem to be several 100mm APDS/APFSDS types -

For the T-12 there is:
BM2
BM22 (? I think this is for the T-12, it doesn't appear on any list of T54/55 ammunition types)

For the D-10T there are:
BM8
BM20 (UBM-8?)
BM25
Mecar M1000 (Belgian round)
M98 (Yugoslavia)

I think that there's no such thing as BM-6, but the cartridge fitted with a BM-8 projectile is called UBM-6.

Btw, do you happen to know when (if ever) Finland received BM-8, and how much of the type would have been carried in T-55s?

No idea when did they arrive nor how many were carried, but BM-8 (UBM-6 cartridge) was in the inventory. Finnish designation for BM-8: 100-55 psa rj vj (100/55 mm panssariammus, rautajohtorengas, valojuova). English translation: 100/55 mm armor-piercing shot, iron driving band, tracer.
