IMO the turrest is just too big, i just hope that it will look more like the one of the K-2 Black Panther

autopilot (edit: autoloader!), poor maximum gun elevation despite the hilly nature of much of Turkey?, no CITV?

The CGI firm must have been real cheap, that picture just being a photoshop-reshaped M1 model.

Judging by commander's hatch position, the gun will be recoiling into TC's lap

I guess it either means a requirement for more cojones of TC candidates, or women as TCs. :P

I think most women would prefer a soft recoil gun then, assuming they don't like it real rough!

I'm looking at that massive bustle overhanging the rear deck...
How the heck is the engine supposed to radiate away all the heat from an engine large enough to move such a large turret around a battlefield?
And with just such a large turret, is the armor paper thin? Because it looks awfully top heavy.
The Merkava gloats that it can carry a few troops in the back of the hull.
This thing looks like it has enough room to carry a few extra troops in the back of the turret (crawling out thru those mock blow-off panels?)...

Also not overlooking the bad angle on the dog box over the gunner's sight: it looks like it's angled slightly downward in that top picture.
Plus, is having half of it physically over the gun's recoiling parts actually a good idea?
You'd pretty much need to un-install the entire sight system just to change out the gun's breech components.
Really, really, really bad kit bash, or Photoslop, or whatever.

Make it a menage a trois:

M1 + K2 + Leclerc.

if thats the M1 sight, putting it there is more of an impossible idea, since the sight house extends pretty far down into the interior.

Yeah that "artist's concept" is not likely to look anything like the actual vehicle, my best guess is a Leo2 hull look alike and a K-2 turret. The M-1 hull is not optimised for anything but the M-1 turret and the engine/tranny combo of the M-1 is out because the engine is out of production. The Leo2A6 pack is available and oddly enough the Leo2 engine is built in the USA (for the Merk4) so it could be paid for with US mil assistance dollars.

Here is a model of what GIAT had offered Turkey, before France fell out of political favor -

GIAT offered a modified Leclerc. Here's a better picture:

http://img232.imagevenue.com/loc374/th_59155_Leclerc_Turkey_122_374lo.JPG

One correction about the Leopard 2A6 engine, though. All Leos still have the MTU MB 873 Ka-501 powerpack, the new and much more compact MTU MB 883 Ka-500 AKA EuroPowerPack was only trialled.

However, the Leclerc Tropicalisé for the UAE, the Merkava 4 (where the engine is manufactured under license in the USA by General Dynamics Land Systems) and the XK2 Black Panther all have the EuroPowerPack.

but in case of XK-2,only the prototypes have the europowerpack, the serialwill have a southkorean engine,i had a picture of it,will try to find it.My guess is also that it will end like K9/Firtina SPG,but the turkish Version will not have an automatic loader, that i know.
this the FCS from ASELSAN

So according to these models it's either a Maus turret or an AMX-13 turret they are planning. :P

You mean that the new Turkish tank won't get an automatic loader, but will still be based on the XK2? That will require a serious redesign, from a 3-man turret with an automatic loader to a 4-man turret with manual loading. Do I understand you correctly?

BTW: What kind of changes did they implement on the Firtina when compared to the original K9 Thunder?

is the 883 the one which frees an entire meter of hull length in the Leopard 2?
